Maestro
Dobel Tequila - Special Edition
I recently discovered
this tequilla on my first visit to Bartaco, the hip, new iconic
taco restaurant chain originating in my home town of Port Chester,
NY (2011) offering land and sea taco creations dressed with
house made sauces, relishes, fresh vegetables and lots of flavor.
Drinks are the real deal at Bartaco -- there are more than 25
tequilas to choose from and a creative cocktail menu that includes
specialty martinis, imported beer, a nice wine selection and
all the usual suspects such as margaritas, mojitos and caipirinhas.
Maestro Dobel is a hand-crafted
tequila made from 100 percent blue agave that grows in the volcanic
lowlands of the Jalisco region near the coast. The agaves used
are eight to ten years old, which is when these plants are at
their prime. After double distillation and filtration, tequilas
of three different ages are hand-blended together: reposado
(aged 15 months), anejo (aged 2 years), and extra-anejo (aged
3 years). The result is a balanced combination of limestone
minerality and citrus flavors with a delicate, sweet finish.
Each bottle of the eighty-proof
liquor is filled and labeled by hand, individually numbered,
and marked with the name of the ranch from where the agave was
harvested.
FYI, the food at Bartaco
is exceptional. Be sure to check a location
near you...
